DESCRIPTION:BFit CrossFit is proud to sponsor the return of this St. Joseph tradition. \nThe Apple Blossom 5K run/walk will kick off the annual Apple Blossom Parade.  In addition to a traditional 5K race\, this year’s event will include additional events for teams to test their functional fitness as well as endurance. \nIn the spirit of CrossFit\, teams may enter to traverse the 3.1 mile course. \n\nTandem Run – Teams of 2 (male/male or female/female) The pair of runners must remain together\, completing the course holding a resistance band\nBurden Run – Teams of 3 (all male or all female team) The team must complete the course sharing the burden of carrying one kettlebell per team to the finish line.  53 lb. kettlebell for male teams.  35 lb. kettlebell for female teams.\nHeavy Burden Run – Teams of 4 (all male or all female team)  The team must complete the course sharing the burden of carrying one heavy sandbag per team to the finish line.  70 lb. sandbag for male teams.  50 lb. sandbag for female teams.\n\nThe Apple Blossom 5k+ is a fundraiser to benefit Sisters of Solace\, a community of hospitality and healing for women survivors or trauma\, human trafficking and addiction.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to explore the wonders of spring birding along the Missouri River at the Remington Nature Center. Join the Missouri River Bird Observatory during the Missouri Birding Society’s spring gathering for a family birding adventure! There are two sessions being hosted on Saturday\, May 4th. One is from 10:00 am until 11:30 am. The other is from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm.\nBirds are busy singing and building nests this time of year. Put on your curiosity hat and participate in a bird scavenger hunt\, explore bird language\, and learn to build a nest like your favorite bird! All materials will be provided.\nAll ages are welcome to this program. Youth under age 16 are required to be accompanied by a supervising adult. Binoculars will be available to borrow. Admission to the Remington Nature Center during this Family Day program along with the pizza lunch and refreshments is FREE thanks to a generous contribution from the Missouri Birding Society. SUMMARY:Beer Walk for the Arts
DESCRIPTION: \nThe Allied Arts Council is hosting the annual Beer Walk for the Arts in the Harris-Kemper Historic District in St. Joseph\, Missouri\, on Saturday\, May 11\, 2024. The event features craft beers at each location from a variety of Midwestern breweries\, paired with food samples from area eateries. In addition to the craft beer samples and the homes tour\, live music representing a wide variety of genres will be featured throughout the event. The event starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. with check-in at the 1885 Whiskey Mansion\, 1723 Francis Street. In addition to the Whiskey Mansion\, the event will include a treasure trove of St. Joseph architecture with six homes on the tour. Tickets are $35 or guests can take advantage of the Beer Buddy special ticket package- two tickets for $50. This is a savings of $20 off the regular price for two tickets.
