Designed for beginners and creatives of all levels\, this series introduces the fundamentals of fused glass\, including safe material handling\, cutting techniques\, design assembly\, and the kiln-firing process. \nDuring the first class\, participants will create fused glass jewelry pieces using molds and begin a glass mosaic artwork. Students are encouraged to bring a colorful reference image to help inspire their mosaic design. After class\, all pieces will be fired in the kiln. \nIn the second class\, students will return to assemble their finished jewelry\, add final details\, and complete their mosaic artwork. DESCRIPTION:Pyro Flow’s April Fire & Flow Jam returns to Krug Park on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026\, at 8 PM in the lower parking lot\, the first left when entering the park. Spectators are invited to enjoy an evening of fire spinning\, flow arts\, and community performances in a family friendly\, drug and alcohol free\, Leave No Trace environment. \nBefore the jam\, a free fire safety class begins at 6 PM\, led by Alex Vineyard. The class is open to both experienced fire spinners and beginners who want to learn more about safe spinning practices. A wheel jam will also take place during the hour before the event\, so bring your skates\, hoverboards\, longboards\, or other wheels and join in while the group sets up. \nEach Fire & Flow Jam features a variety of performers of all ages and abilities. This is a community stage\, and anyone interested in performing is welcome\, including fire spinners\, non-fire flow artists\, and other performers. First time fire performers should RSVP to Mooncat by text at 319-594-2829 or message Pyro Flow in advance\, then arrive early to check in for a safety meeting\, gear check\, and waiver. \nThis season also honors the life of Josh Hilliard\, a longtime fire breather and friend of the group. Space will be held during each jam for community members to share memories\, grieve\, and celebrate together. \nWeather permitting\, Fire & Flow Jams are held once a month and are intended to build community\, encourage artistic expression\, and create connections through performance and shared experience.

SUMMARY:Studio Basics: Fused Glass with Alex Asher
DESCRIPTION:Discover the art of glass fusing in this hands-on\, two-class workshop designed for beginners and creatives of all levels. In the first class\, students will learn the fundamentals of working with fused glass\, including safe material handling\, cutting techniques\, design assembly and an overview of the kiln-firing process. You will create both fused glass jewelry pieces\, using molds to shape your designs\, and a glass mosaic artwork. For the mosaic\, students are encouraged to bring a colorful reference image to inspire and guide their design. After the first class\, all assembled pieces will be fired in the kiln. In the second class\, students will return to finish their jewelry by assembling the final components and adding any finishing touches. You’ll also refine and complete your glass mosaic artwork. All materials for both classes are included. The glass kiln was generously donated by Eileen Dyer\, whose support helps make this creative experience possible!
