Houston Wyeth Hill is a westward facing scenic overlook high upon the Missouri River bluffs. It offers a panoramic view of the Missouri River and Kansas. Thousands of pioneers crossed the Missouri river at this point (within view of Wyeth Hill) on their way to Oregon and California.

This feeder route to the Oregon Trail was known as the “St. Joseph Branch” (c. 1844 – 1870). For many decades, Wyeth Hill has also been a place where many young (and old) lovers “park” and watch the sunset. Named for St. Joseph businessman, Houston Wyeth, who donated the property to the city of St. Joseph.
