Beginner’s Knitting with Marylin Huskamp is designed for new knitters and focuses on essential skills like casting on, knit and purl stitches, casting off, and measuring gauge for proper fit. Students will start with a small sampler, then move on to a simple scarf as confidence grows. Additional stitch patterns and techniques may be introduced as the class progresses, including cables, yarn overs, and popcorn stitches.
Classes meet Wednesdays from February 11 to March 4, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art. All supplies are provided through Class 2. Beginning in Class 3, students will purchase their own materials to complete a scarf during Classes 3 and 4. Marylin will explain what to buy during Class 1, so please wait for guidance before purchasing supplies.
Materials to purchase after Class 2: two skeins of 4 or 5 ply yarn, and circular needles in size 8 or 9.
