Since 2016, the museum has hosted Witches Tea, an annual event celebrating the Halloween season. This year’s Witches Tea will be held on October 23. Guests may choose from a gourmet lunch seating at noon ($40 a person) or a gourmet dinner seating at 6:30pm ($50 a person). Attendees are invited to come in costume. This event is open to the general public and tickets are available at Albrecht-Kemper.org/witchestea or by calling the AKMA front desk at 816-233-7003.
Originally hosted at the Gothic Teahouse in Saint Joseph, museum volunteer brought the event to the museum in 2016 with permission from the event’s creator. Since then Witches Tea has transformed from its original afternoon tea party into a full day of magic.
Entertainment is central to the Witches Tea experience. This year we will feature dancing witches, psychic readings, magical performances and specialty vendors in the “Boo-tique.” Awards will be presented for a costume contest.
Witches Tea promotes the AKMA’s mission as the museum’s third largest fundraising event of the year, this event raises crucial funds for the AKMA’s operational budget, education programs and community-centered free events.
