Cycling & Mountain Biking
Whether you prefer road biking or mountain trails, it’s almost as if St. Joseph was built for cyclists. From the 26-mile parkway that winds through the city from north to south to the off-road trails that hug our city parks, there’s always a new route to enjoy on two wheels. Check out our new River Bluff Trails Park for your next ride!
Sports & Recreation
Golfing, hiking, skating, swimming… whatever your adventure of choice, you can find it in St. Joseph. Make memories walking the riverfront trail at sunset or catch a Mustangs wooden-league baseball game. In the summer, take the family to the city’s large aquatic park or check out the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp at Missouri Western State University. There’s always someplace to get active in St. Joseph.
Golf Courses
Golfers of all skill levels will find plenty to enjoy in St. Joseph. Fairview Golf Course, established in 1925, features rolling fairways, mature trees and challenging hazards across 18 holes. Copper Hill Golf Club offers a 9-hole par-3 course, lighted driving range, batting cages, mini-golf, pro shop and snack bar, open year-round for fun on and off the course.
Hunting & Fishing
St. Joseph sits in the heart of exceptional fishing and hunting opportunities, surrounded by nearly one million acres of Conservation Area lands. Whether you’re hoping to catch a prize-winning Missouri River catfish or pursue deer, turkey or waterfowl, the areas around St. Joseph rank among the best outdoor recreation destinations in America.
THE ST. JOSEPH PARKWAY
The St. Joseph Parkway winds 26 miles through the city. Developed in 1918 by architect George Burnap, St. Joseph was one of the first cities in the United States to create an imaginative and comprehensive parkway plan. Popular for hiking and biking, the completed system connects major parks and recreation facilities throughout the city. The Parkway was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and runs roughly from Krug Park in the northwest to Hyde Park in the northeast, with a portion along Noyes Boulevard.
