Learn the basics of beekeeping during Beekeeping 101 at the Remington Nature Center in St. Joseph.
This entry to intermediate level program is designed for anyone who is new to beekeeping, interested in starting a hive, or simply curious about what it takes to manage honey bees.
Instructor William Kutosky, owner of 3 Williams Honey in Wathena, Kansas, will share knowledge gained from 17 years of keeping bees and producing honey in Colorado, Nevada, and Northwest Missouri.
Topics will include honey bee biology, essential beekeeping supplies, purchasing and installing bees, hive inspections, seasonal hive management, honey harvesting and processing, and pest management.
Admission is $3 per person.
