Studio Basics: Mat, Frame & Hang Your Art with Alex Asher

Give your artwork a professional finishing touch during Studio Basics: Mat, Frame & Hang Your Art with artist and educator Alex Asher at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art.
Whether you are preparing artwork for an exhibition, creating a gift, or displaying a piece in your own home, this hands-on workshop will teach the essential skills needed to confidently mat, frame, wire, and hang artwork.
Participants will work with their own pieces while learning how to properly measure artwork, select complementary mat colors, cut mats, assemble frames, attach hanging hardware, and securely display finished pieces. Alex will also share practical tips for choosing frames and mats that complement the artwork and create a polished presentation.
Participants should bring one or more pieces of artwork they would like to frame, along with their own frames and mat boards. A limited selection of mat board will be available for purchase or use, but bringing your own materials is recommended to ensure the best match for your artwork.
Not sure what mat color to choose? Black and white are timeless options that provide a clean contrast for most artwork.
Leave the workshop with a beautifully presented piece of art and the skills needed to confidently frame and hang future projects yourself.
